Upstream from robot to PC I'll send serial text data at 2400 baud - or something pretty slow (I think 2400 is max for PICAXE at 4MHz so I can do 4800 at 8MHz)
The 433MHz modules I chose have a TXD and RXD pin.
Downstream from PC to Robot will just be a FM "Bug" transmitter (max range 100 metres) and the receiver just a normal FM radio
Of course I want to also send control data to the robot via the 433MHz link (that's why I bought the transceivers not just tran and recv pair). One think I want to do is have a "manual override" mode where I can control the robot via my joystick on my PC - just for fun

I just built the FM bug mkIIM from Oatley - the sensitivity of this thing is amazing.
Not that I will be using it as a bug (line out from PC) but it works amazing well as a bug - stability is rock solid
