Hi, There are a few of them. The one I have played with is. www.david-laserscanner.com/I used a laser line leveler from bunnings. Black & Decker. $29 It works but the line is dim in the middle. Then I got ones from a wood working machinery place. $50. Used for putting lines on you job when cutting. Haven't had a good play with it but the lines good. I used the movie function on my digital camera for the video to do the calibration and the scanning. The next is scanZ at www.brucerayne.comlooks really good. a bit more setting up but the final produce looks like it will be better. If you used a stepper motor to rotate the camera/laser and could quick mount into a door way. It would be good. another is 3dsompro. at www.3dsompro.com but at $4000 I won't be buying it. It does look great tho. Bones

that looks like it could be a bit of fun. what about if you just mount a mirror on a motor and point a laser at it in place of the level?

Hi Bender, Yeh you can do that. I heard people have used a nut socket and bounched the laser off the curved edge to get a line.
You can use a normal light with a slit in it. Selectable in software. Then run the white line up and down the object.

If you have a digital stil camera, check to see if you can do movies with it. It will work heaps better than a web cam. I threw my web cam back in the cupboard. Still cam works heaps better.

Yeh movie cam would be good. One guy did still shots and made it into a video format. He stepped to the next position then snapped a pic etc. The higher the quality the better the resolution. It doesn't have to be a high frame rate. Try the canon.
