I noticed the almost dormant Brisbane Robot group "Robot-SIG" is starting to have activity again. It is a yahoo group called Robot-sig and the link is: tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/robot_sig/further outdated info here: robotsig.org/There is talk or having a meeting soon and making some line following bots. So if you are within striking distance of Brisbane, check it out.

I'm happy to announce that today was the second (and first with more than 3 people attending) meeting of the Brisbane Robotic SIG (Special Interest Group). We were expecting about 10 people and got about 7 I think. Currently the group is focusing on a group of line following robots made from remote control cars. Here are a couple of shots from today, I'll upload more about project when I've got time. ......yes those are pizzas about to be baked on the bench

Yipee! it's great to see a community getting back together again ... even if it is a bit too far for me to join in :-( Still this web technology can go a long way to reducing the tyrany of distance. Dingo, are they all members of your forum here ? I know you mentioned yahoo groups but it doesn't have to be exclusive The second photo looks like a couple of young members on the left-hand side ... Is the project designed as an introductory level ? Cheers !

As a matter of interest, was Tony or Stephen Myatt one of your contacts/members ? It appears that Tony runs QuantumTorque ; and Stephen was a member of the champion RoboCup Soccer team Dynamic Equilibrium in 2005 and 06. Check out DE's videos, and links to some of the other international RoboCup events !

No, these guys aren't on here yet, hmmmm I really should get them here now Actually I hoping to launch a very new AAR soon (next couple of weeks) Here it is so far: dingo.110mb.com/joomla/I'm hoping to document the group's project as one of the first things on the new site. Timing is a b*tch so I'm trying to get it up before bringing these guys in to see so that they can contribute. BTW the new site will allow members to edit and upload their own projects and edit them on screen like a wiki. Should be interesting. EDIT: BTW as I was the one taking those photos I'm not in any of them, oh the mystery continues!

Once I have the new site up and the project documented I should contact them to bring more members into the fold or to join their fold or whatever

Sounds super exciting Dingo. I'm really looking forward to a "wiki" style site! ... yes indeedy, the mystery does continue... who is he, the ghost that walks? maybe I should ask, who is he, the ghost host that posts?

There is a yahoo group for the group at: tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/robot_sig/The mailing list there is where the meetings are organised. Next one won't be for a couple of weeks at least I think

hi Dingo...
Bit new to all this posting stuff... had a look around and coudl not find the right place to post a question....
Anyway... I am playing with a UAV concept for a model helicopter.. At the moment i am trying to master the art of consistent RC flight... After numerous minor crashes I have finally burnt out the mosfets on the controller... I was wondering if anybody new a place in BRISBANE where I could source a 4410 mosfet.... any help would be greatly appreciated..... IanC
