Thought I'd start a new thread as I have a new idea. on this page: n.ethz.ch/student/rodonil/da/bericht/node59.html there is a curcuit for measuring signal strength of an FM station. Couldn't one get really accurate meausrements of direction of radio source if you had a really directional antenna (ie parabolic dish or similar) and spun it around 360 degrees on a stepper motor and measured which step recorded the greatest signal strength. A PIC has a ADC with 256 degrees of resolution - would this be good enough or would one need to use a more precise ADC for measuring signal strength. BTW anyone know where to source a really small parabolic radio antenna (torches etc?). Or a highly directional antenna for small robots? OR am I just crazy for doing direction finding on such a small scale?
