Anyone played around with ARM processors?
If so is there a cheap Australian source at all?

Dingo, Yeah they are cheap. Intel Xscale from Memec are about $23 in smallish qty's. Bang for buck they make an ATMEGA128 look pretty pale. Pretty much a full PC on a chip minus any connectors. Small Problem, you'd need a 8 layer board to deal with them. BGA. Ever considered the Game Boy Advance. That uses an ARM7. Dev sware is GNU and all you have to do is get code into a home made flash card. You can buy stuff to make it easier but it really isn't that difficult if you can make two layer boards and don't get troubled by SMD parts. Might even be able to do it single layer but the card wouldn't be able to fit in the GBA. I've done a little with them. Made a CRO and a spectrum analyzer. Good fun. I've seen a cut down version of Linux running on one. Link to compiler on my home page. users.chariot.net.au/~stefanm/htmfiles/notgba.html

That looks pretty cool actually. I hadn't realised the GBA was a straight ARM processor. I might have a serious look at it when I next get a moment to myself (approx 3 weeks). I think the GBA looks much more attractive than 8 layered boards Thanks
