Hasn't someone buried the 8051 yet?!!! ;D I wonder if Intel are getting royalties from the instruction set? They could stop making CPU's right now and still make millions a year... It's funny, but I seem to restrict myself to just PDIP chips because I don't have the tools required to make the boards and use surface mount components, even in QFN packages. Everything must be small so it makes it difficult to build a "test system". I know there are companies that can make good PCB's for SOIC chips and also companies who can solder your components onto the board - but that costs moolah. So having a development kit is good news. But the 8051? How could you, Bones?!!! (Three posts in one day. I'm must be getting carried away with myself.)

lol. I'm sorry Rod. They are still teaching 8051 at Tafe. But if you program in C it doesn't matter. It's just another Micro. I don't understand the words "Test System". Don't all designs work first time with no changes. lol
Are you coming to catch up this Saturday? I'll be there from 6:00am.
Cheers Rod

Sure, I'll be there. I'm posting this in case my email didn't make it thru to you. Yeh. I got no need for "testing systems" either. My code *always* work first time. Most times I deliberately put in extra stuff just to make sure that I exercise all of the chip's features... But then I take it all out later because who really needs such advanced functionality anyway? Be good ya all
