Hey all, I thought Squeeze had a good idea in posting relevant skills here. I am a 26 yo R & D Engineer from Melbourne. At work I play with digital electronics and program Microcontrollers. At uni, I studied Computer Science and Computer Systems Engineering. My analog electronics skills are a bit on the poorer side; I tend to gather schematics from else where and modify them to suit me rather than design from scratch. I am ok at putting stuff together mechanically. I think that is about it? Cheers, Michael

I'm old just Nth of Melb I did a fitter & machining apprenticeship studied fluid power, tooling making...etc tool maker for the ADI for a couple of years and going to night school for eng degree....completed 1/2. managed a small engineering firm until I told owner he was a f#$%^@ idiot......sacked ;D. Finished a Diploma in computer programming just as unemployment peak at 11% ......I like c++ but have not programmed since win95. (I hated windows) I'm a hobby junky all of which have lead me to robotics... Basically I can do just about anything with metal

hi all. First post. yay
I'm 17 and in Adelaide. My mechanical skills are slightly above hopeless but I am good with digital electronics. I don't usually use newer technology, i'm more into the 20-30 year old stuff.
atm i'm working on an Intel 8080 based computer. Yes I could have used Z80 but I got a few 8080's and wanted to use them. I'm trying to get it as close as possible to the Altair 8800 or IMSAI 8080 with lot's of blinking lights and having to toggle in boot code manually.

I'm 22, currently live in Brisbane. Love to program and have done so since age 11. (Amiga Basic, QBasic, C, C++, Visual Basic then a bit of everything else) Have an MCSD(VB6) and a B.Comm(UQ). Currently studying law. Always loved machines, electronics etc but had no relatives or friends to influence me in that direction. After taking apart anything I could get my hands on to see how it worked I recently started reading books in the area of electronics and robotics. Found there was little in the way of websites devoted to robotics in Australia and so started this site to address that fact and provide a place for Australian robotics to flourish (or at least tell each other about bargains associated with Robotics Love to weld and build things when I get the time. Or program (mostly OpenGL C++). I am astounded by the great info all the members of this site have contributed so far! Keep it up!

It is great to see that there is such a broad range of skills here so far! Very handy to be able to draw on the collective knowledge we have in our own handful of enthusiasts here. It is also interesting to see that we have got coverage over nearly all of Australia

Hi, Living in WA and loving it. lol. From NSW. Great Idea for skills. Been in electronics since I was 5. Currently studing electronic engineering.(You need the piece of paper to get a job in the field). Not bad at mechanical stuff. Jack of all trades. Done some micro work. Computer tech for a job. Have worked in animatronics and special effects. Not bad at digital, not as good on analog. Bones

Hi peoplez
Stumbled into your site tonight. Good to see someone local has set up a useable site even if it's short on contributors. But it's a good start.
My skills base is drawn from my passion for electronics and 22 years designing and developing products. Always makes it easier if you hobby is your work but the line can get a little blurred.
Most of my development work has been based around assorted controllers and processors and applications thereof. Product groups have broadly fallen into laser sensing applications, DC servo control and numerous sensing and signal processing technologies.
Wanted to apply my knowledge into something other than work. Robots are a pretty good option.

Thank you and welcome aboard!
And of course I'm always happy to include anyone's latest project in the projects section. Just email me the photos and text or the html and I'll put up here.
