How are we all?
Well this isn't my first post here, my first one was seeking guidence in the direction to take for a complete newbie to the world of robotics.
I'm 19 this month, and live in Brisbane (hmm, maybe I could steel Dingo's robots , have done so since '99. Finished school at Brisbane Adventist College in 2004, and am currently completing a Cadetship in Civil Engineering. At the moment I'm a Cadet Civil Drafter for Maunsell.
Anyway, I don't have any experience in Electronics. Well that is a lie. Yesterday I figured out how to use a soldering iron for the first time and soldered things to a board (yes I told you I'm green!). Before last weekend I didn't even know what a soldering iron was! I'm working on my first robot at the moment, a Robot Kit actually. It's a Spider www.robotics.com.au/getpage.asp?PAGE=shop&cid=34&pid=316 from www.robotics.com.au which I have to solder together. Ohh big deal you say, lol - remember I had never even seen one before So yesterday I was soldering and found it rather fun actually! Except I don't know what I'm doing and how I'm completing the circuit, but enjoying it never-the-less
Um, hobbies? I enjoy cricket, golf, squash, web design and graphics. I havn't had much experience in coding fancy languages such as C, however I do code in PHP, Actionscript and VB. I have experience in building things with timber/metal/plastic (from Highschool Tech classes .
What got me interested in robotics? Sony's QRIO Awesome little thing that was!
Anyway enough blab able me. Nice little forum you have here Dingo Cya later,
- leighton
