Love to join a robotics club So would I ! Unfortunately the only known active local club is in Brisvegas  So tell us, what are your interests ? Any preferred hardware platform ? and do you like scorpions ? |

I relocated to Adelaide from the USA last September, and I'd love to talk to some fellow local gearheads.
About me: I was a member of the Seattle Robotics Society from 1983 until I moved away from Seattle in 1996, and I really miss having a robotics group to attend (Pittsburgh was only just getting one set up when I left). I have a Robotics Engineering degree -- what y'all call "mechatronics engineering" here in Oz. For four years -- from 1998 to 2002 -- I wrote the monthly Amateur Robotics column for Nuts & Volts magazine. This was before they came out with their sister magazine Servo dedicated entirely to robotics.
I look forward to hearing from any fellow robotics nutters, especially any within, say 100 km of Adelaide!

Hot dang! We missed a good 'un for Sydney... Welcome aboard countryrobot. Feel like writing a news letter for us?!!! You've probably noticed that Australia is just spread a little too much apart for folks to travel around much. We need a leader. I'm not volunteering because there ain't nobody smart in Sydney. There's just me and Don.  The clever cookies are all living in Brisbane. And poor Bones is effectively on the other side of the universe! Maybe it's time to move to Adelaide... But, then it's mail order for all my parts. And there's no work over there. And I don't really want to move - although Sydney is stupidly expensive. Hmmm Cheers! Rod [The other one] |

Hi, I'm living in Kent Town, and studying at Adelaide Uni. A get together would be great, but definitely not now. Need to focus on my exams first  Btw, I've just been accepted to join the Robotics Peer Mentoring program. I'll be a mentor to high school students, teaching them about robotics. Can't hardley find anyone over here to do with robotics.
Maybe everyone one should move over here. ;D
Good weather. Cruisey life style, Bad drivers.
But the QLD guys would know all about them.
Just got back from Greece and Dubai. No robots there either.

Hi guys, Great news! I've just gathered around 15 people from my uni (Adelaide Uni) and we are forming our very own Robotics SIG! So far, most of them are doing mechatronics. Some are total beginners while some are experienced roboteers already. One guy is making an AUV for his masters, while the other is working on a wine-pruning robot. We are still in exam period, so we planned to have our first meeting in a week or two. Wanna join us Bobby? If you guys have any advice on how to get a club off the ground, please tell me about it. But for now, need to study for Electronics tomorrow Arif |

The RPM hasnt started yet. We'll have a week of training during the coming winter holidays, and then we'll be assigned the schools to go to.

Hey guys,
Is all this Adelaide stuff still happening. I'm a mechatronic engineer (ex adelaide uni). Been playing with robotics stuff for a while but never really got anywhere cause I usually get distracted by other stuff. Having a local group would be awesome.
