Here is a few site that have some info on air muscles and there design. They are cheap to make, huge amounts of strength and work very much like real muscles. The only draw back is the valves to control them aren't cheap. Have alook and make your own decision. How to make them: members.rogers.com/cybotix/cybot/nhome.htmlwww.uofr.net/~jdrake/robots.htmlA robot made from them: www.shadow.org.uk/index.shtmlThe hand/arm they made is great. Where to get the stuff to make it in Australia: www.cabac.com.au/pdf/haccess2.pdfThey sell the Braided Sleeving. Best to buy the Kits that have small amounts. Cost about $20 each. All the same price and have more than enough in them. You can order them from any Electrical Wholesaler. I used harthingy rubber cord for the blowup diaphram inside and the ends I'll be machining them up. The valves you can use retick water valves from bunnings. $20 each and use one to inflate and one to exaust. If you have the room for them. Or LPG fuel cut off valves soleiods. About $45 each. Don't forget to regulate the presure down to less than 60 PSI to play with them. Have fun Bones

Wow these are cool. I originally thought you had to buy air muscles becuase I saw a TV show years ago about a UK company producing them commercially - I didn't even contemplate using a bike tyre Creating air muscles just got put in the top 10 things I want to do with robots! (BTW I've added the links to the links page)
