Robot Purpose?

Hey all,
was wondering what purpose you have had in designing a robot.
I have oft thought about building the vacuum or lawn mowing robots. Also thought about a drink delivering robot.
When I was at uni, and even now, they were involved in robo soccer. That has always been an interesting exercise.
Hmm, on a sidenote, that could be an interesting competition to have here....

But yeah, what ideas has everyone else had for their robots purpose?

My next "biggish" project is to create a vacuuming robot. But I'd want it to have some sort of smarts and not just random avoidance of obsticles.

It'd sorta be a dust buster on wheels

I also want it to self recharge the batteries because it would need to do that heaps.
